EchoSport Award Winners
Saoirse McCarthy picked up the February award for her success with MTU (Munster Technological University) as she captained them to All-Ireland success in the Purcell Cup recently.
She was also named Player of the Game in the final, as she led by example from start to finish.
The college beat University of Galway in the final, which Saoirse said was the culmination of four years of hard work. The final score was 2-10 to 0-12, with Saoirse raising four white flags, ensuring she got to lift the cup at the end of play.
Amy O Connor was named the August award winner for her outstanding performance in Corks victorious All Ireland Final.
Amy captained Cork to All-Ireland camogie glory and scored 3-7 over the hour, with the three goals coming in a five minute spell at the start of the second half. “Amy 3-7” will forever be part of Camogie folklore
Clare Mullins was awarded the October honour following her Player of the Match performance in the senior camogie final against SeandĂșn.
Scoring 1-2, she had also hit 1-1 in the semi-final as one of Sars’ top forwards.
